12 Days of Treats

The 12 Days of Treats are coming!

If it’s one thing I love to do this time of year, it’s bake, and the people around me don’t seem to mind either!  Last year, I was just starting up my YouTube channel, and I took on the ambitious task of doing The 12 Days of Treats which was a new recipe for the first twelve days of December.   Given I started this in September, it was still quite an undertaking but worth it to share my favorite recipes.  I knew if I committed to making this an annual thing that I would not only have to prepare some of our favorites but look for inspiration on recipes I’d wanted to try as well.

Last year, I was flipping through the Swiss Colony catalog which, for me, it is the one thing that signals the beginning of the Christmas season.  I was inspired by some of their offerings as well as The Vermont Country Store which pumps you up on nostalgia.  It was the longing for classic treats and tastes that inspired this year’s 12 Days of Treats.  Here’s a sneak peek:

It truly has something for kids from 1 to 92!  From nostalgic classics to updated versions of classics to new tasty recipes that are soon to become favorites – I am genuinely excited to share a holiday recipe with you every day beginning Friday!  (December 1st)  I can vouch for every single one and have a bit of a doughy middle to show for my “quality control.”

Consider subscribing to the YouTube channel and click the bell to be notified when new videos go live if you like the idea of getting new videos for step by step instructions and how the recipe should look at different stages.   If you’d prefer to have the blog post notification go straight to your inbox, feel free to subscribe here.  Either way, I’d love to have you bake with me!

I'm a long time cook/baker that makes food centric recipe videos to help the novice cook or welcome a seasoned cook that wants to focus on the food. I'm passionate about both Christmas and cooking. Once my baking gene gets activated in September, I want to bake all the things. Grab a cup of hot cocoa and come on into my kitchen!

  1. I’m hoping to get some baking done this year. Previous years my mother-in-law has baked enough for the whole family – but she says she’s not doing that this year! Right now I’m on the hunt for some easy cookies and squares to make with my daughter. I’m going to check out all 12 of your days from last year!

    1. Ahh, mama wants a break! LOL I think you’ll find some great ones in last years including the Easy Red Velvet Crinkle Cookies, Nutella Fudge (omit the Nutella if you don’t like it- 2 ingredients and microwave it!) and shortbread is a super easy one even if you don’t cut them into the tea bags like I did! Stay tuned this Friday for the start of this years festivities where I have a few great mid-century recipes that might just take your MIL back to her childhood!

  2. I haven’t thought of Swiss Colony in years! In order to catch up with what I wanted to do, I should have started after Halloween. Your 12 days of treats is a great inspiration. Thank you for sharing with us this week at Celebrate Your Story and we hope you will join us again next week.

    1. I love the Swiss Colony catalog and one day I WILL get myself a Chris Mouse! 🙂 I’m beginning to think I need to start crafting in July because by this time it’s all about the baking! LOL Thanks so much!

  3. I am really wishing that I could be at your home when you are making all of these recipes. You always have such great recipes, and I’d love to try them freshly made! Happy December! Enjoy making your treats!

  4. I don’t remember Swiss Colony, but I’m sure I’ve seen it. But I do know what the Vermont Store is! It’s so much fun to look through. The stuffed holiday yule log sounds fantastic and I anxiously await the luscious tidbits you’ll be sharing soon! Thank you for sharing with us at Party in Your PJ’s; I’m anxious to see what you share next week.

    1. Swiss Colony is pretty similar to VT Country Store and just kind of gives ya those warm fuzzies! 🙂 I hope you love the 12 Days of Treats!

  5. I always prepare for a baking day that is for me to enjoy. I do all the shopping and make sure my pans and oven are clean in November so I can just play tunes, bake and feed whoever is hovering by.

    Looking forward to your series.

    1. That is the best! I’ve got all of my doughs frozen and 10 days from now, I’ll be firing up the ovens and blasting some old school Christmas tunes as well! (As well as quality control testing.) 😉

  6. What a great collection of delicious treats! Hope you are having a wonderful week and thanks so much for sharing with Full Plate Thursday.
    Come Back Soon!
