Breakfast Scones

Ham and Cheese Scones

Jump to recipe

In the past year, I’ve kind of become a scone freak.  I’d say it was a problem but it’s not.

Right?

Scones are typically on the sweeter side but when you mix sweet with savory, you’ve got a treat this is downright droolworthy and when cut big enough, can make a meal!  This delicious ham and cheese scone is dotted with little chunks of apple to make for a soft, pillowy scone inside with that signature crusty outside.  See?

Sur La TableI’m not sure too many people who could walk by a platter of those and not swipe one!  Not me, that’s for sure!  Another plus is they freeze well up to a month so it you freeze them solid then wrap them in plastic wrap several times and place in a freezer bag, you can have these babies ready to thaw on busy mornings.  (Perfect to pin for holiday breakfasts!)  The video shows you how to bring it all together and what the recipe should look like in different stages.

  2. Oh, the combination of sweet and savory is so interesting. I have to admit that I’ve never made any scones, though I’ve eaten a few. These are definitely intriguing. Thanks for sharing such an inspiring idea!

    1. I’m pretty new to scone making but once you do, you will want to make ALL the scones! The balance the sweet of the apple really just lends itself to keep the scone soft and tender inside so it’s subtle. Hope you give ’em a try!

  3. I’ve made scones a few times but they’ve been sweet. I’m looking forward to trying these. Happy New Year and thanks for sharing with us this week at Celebrate Your Story and we hope you will join us again next week.

  4. Congratulations!
